Today, the 76th anniversary of D Day, 6 June 1944 was commemorated here at Hardway.
Due to social distancing requirements, it was a very quiet ceremony compared to previous years, but wreaths were laid at the memorial stone and the traditional 2-minute silence was observed to remember those who lost their lives in World War II.
Attendees included a very important member of our community, Mr Ron Cross MBE, a Veteran of World War II, who deployed from Hardway for the D-Day operations. Mr Cross celebrates his 100th birthday on Monday 8th June, and we wish him the very best for this milestone birthday.
We’d like to publicly thank the gardening team from Gosport Council who prepared the flower beds and grassed areas prior to today to ensure they were looking their best for this anniversary.
