Entries to participate in Hardway's summer of 'free' events for young people are now live with booking for Watersports Taster sessions in conjunction with Oarsome Chance now 'Open' - you are encouraged to make a booking as soon as possible to secure a place.
The hourly sessions will run between 11:00 - 17:30 (times vary), Mon Fri, for two weeks:
From Monday 9th to Friday 13th August 2021
From Monday 23rd to Friday 27th August 2021
Please be aware that session times may slightly vary on the day.
On the day, please make sure you arrive at least 15 minutes before your booked time slot
The sessions will be for young people age 9 - 19. You don't need specific experience as full instruction and equipment will be provided.
Please note - only two tickets are available per booking, so that we can make sure this activity is available to as many people as possible.
ADULTS (Over 19's)
There will be a very limited number of 'walk up' spaces on each day for ADULTS with no experience who would like to try watersports at Hardway - these cannot be booked in advance and are allocated on a first come first served basis for each session. Please speak to the Oarsome Chance staff on site to ask to join in a session on the day.
Helpful Info:
You don't need any experience, as there will be fully trained instructors who will give you full instructions and a safety briefing. Just make sure you have a swimsuit / swim shorts, a top suitable for going in the water, a towel and change of clothes. If you have a pair of water shoes (or old trainers or plimsoles they can wear in the water) that would be great.
We will provide all equipment and full safety kit including buoyancy aids, and footwear, if necessary.
If arriving by car, there are parking restrictions on Priory Road and Green Lane which are subject to enforcement - to avoid receiving a fine or causing inconvenience to residents, please park in pay and display short stay car park next to Memorial Green or free of charge in the long stay car parking at top end of Green Lane (2 minute walk).
The programme is going ahead thanks to a grant awarded by the National Lottery.
